Intuitive Eating
Intuitive eating consultations: During these sessions you will meet with Heidi Smith, Registered Dietitian online. We may cover any number of topics related to nutrition and your health such as: Healthy eating check-up, increasing body awareness, increasing energy, improving digestion, meal planning, changes in weight/body composition, managing emotional eating, understanding blocks to motivation, improving self-care, disordered eating, improving exercise performance, finding balance for plant based eating, nutrition education for children/teens, pre-post natal nutrition, peri/menopausal nutrition, nutrient deficiencies (ie: iron), incorporation of mindfulness for reduced stress/anxiety/depression, etc….
Each session is 50 minutes. The first session we will discuss your goals, your challenges, your health history and what you hope to get out of our work together. The second and third sessions usually are booked within 1-3 weeks depending on your goals. The first 3 consultations are usually focused on "what/when/how much you are eating" as well as learning some mindfulness tools to support your health. The follow-up visits we continue to fine tune body awareness (hunger, fullness, stress indicators...), mindfulness practices and getting to know the parts of you and the emotions that arise in response to your eating habits and your body changes. We will look at obstacles and patterns that are impacting your relationship with food and your health goals.
Dream Analysis
Dreams are a unique reflection of your inner world. On the surface dreams can appear random, non-sensical, confusing or even scary. A trained dream analyst can help you decode the hidden messages in a dream which can provide insight for personal growth and wholeness. Psychiatrist Carl Jung said “The dream is a small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul”.
For this reason we move slowly and gently as we explore the images in a dream. Typically we will focus on one dream per session. We acknowledge the sacredness of dreams and hold them with with the utmost respect and privacy. It is important to note that working with a dream can be therapeutic however it is not therapy and it is not intended to treat any serious mental health condition.
SoulCollage®
SoulCollage® is a unique and fun way to playfully combine magazine or digital images that you are intuitively drawn to. The collages you create are personal to you and can be surprisingly meaningful. It is a gentle and creative way to connect with your intuition and unlock your inner wisdom. NO ARTISTIC ABILITY REQUIRED.
Collages can be made with magazine images which are traditionally cut out and pasted onto a 5x8 backing, or they can be made by searching images online and cutting and pasting into a blank document. Digital collages can later be printed if desired.
After the collages are made, we typically engage in a guided journalling activity to unlock the hidden wisdom from the images you have chosen.
Many people find the collages they make provide a sense of self-understanding and self-compassion that delivers unexpected gifts long after the collage has been made.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) is typically an 8-week researched based program to help people better respond to stress, anxiety and pain. Throughout the 8 weeks, participants will learn a variety of different mindfulness practices including mindful eating, meditation, noting of thought patterns, body awareness and learning how to respond to our triggers for stress. The MBSR program is being taught in over 700 medical centres across North America.
Who Should attend? Anyone looking to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, increase focus, reduce ‘worries’ and improve body awareness.
